Gregory Rivkin, began his musical studies on piano at age of four. At age of ten he became fascinated by the sound of the trumpet. It was at that same time that Gregory’s mother (a piano teacher with whom he began the musical journey) introduced him to jazz records. Within a year of taking formal trumpet lessons as a classical musician, Gregory had decided to become a professional classical trumpeter and jazz artist. Gregory Rivkin holds an Artist Diploma and the First Prize from the Conservatoire National Superier de Region de Paris, France; Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Performance from The New School University, New York, and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University. Mr. Rivkin is a faculty member of the Essex County College and Newark School of the Arts, Newark, NJ. An extensive background of studies and performances of classical music and jazz, combined with perseverance, diligence and high self-motivation helped Mr. Rivkin to reach the highest levels of artistry as a musician, instrumentalist and performer. Repeated performances in the U.S., Europe and throughout the world featuring Gregory Rivkin as a soloist with chamber groups and large orchestras sharpened his mastery and experience, and brought him an international establishment as one of the best trumpeters of the contemporary generation of musicians. Gregory’s schedule includes appearances at the most prestigious New York City jazz clubs and concert halls. He has played at: Carnegie Hall, Tribeca Performing Center, Lincoln Center, Millennium Theater, Blue Note, Iridium, Sweet Rhythm, and others.
