These workshops expanded his interest in jazz. New musical horizons were now opened by the unlimited access to the recording of great jazz legends. He began to participate in every possible jam session; to learn jazz standards and improvisation on top of building a repertoire for the classical trumpet. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;From 1995 until 1997 Gregory attended  Rubin Academy for Music and Dance in Jerusalem. There, he continued to soak up the information which helped his overall development as a classical and jazz artist. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1997 Gregory, being on the scholarship provided by America-Israel Cultural Foundation was accepted to the Conservatoire National Superior de Paris, France, where he mastered his instrumentalism. The two-year period of difficult life in Paris, isolation, long practice sessions, constant search for an improvement, late night jam sessions appearances, attending the performances of American jazz artists, who were touring in France, saving his last pocket money in order to get another jazz record and to learn more, became an impetus to Gregory s jazz mastery. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;After completing a degree in Classical Trumpet with the First Prize (1999) at the Conservatoire National Superior de Paris, France, the trumpeter returned to Israel and worked in the core of the National Israeli Opera s Symphonic Orchestra. In addition to that he taught at two music schools by day, and by night took every possible jazz gig to pursue his only artistic target: to become an accomplished jazz artist (as well as save money in order to relocate to New York and continue his musical carrier in the United States of America). </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Since year 2000 Mr. Rivkin lives in the USA where he teaches and makes his musical contributions in New York jazz scene. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Gregory Rivkin appeared as a leader and a sideman in clubs such as  Sweet Rhythm ,  Blue Note ,  Iridium ,  Sugar Bar ,  Cecil s ,  Garage ,  Smalls ,  Fat Cat ,  Smoke ,  Zink Bar and other New York and New Jersey jazz clubs. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Hard-bop oriented, Mr. Rivkin have had the honor to share the band-stand with jazz artists such as: Elvin Jones, Mark Murphy, Harvie S, Hal Galper, Mike Karn, Bill Goodwin, Donald Harrison, David Schnitter, Eddie Henderson, Claudio Roditi, Valery Ponomarev, Virginia Mayhew, Kirk Lightsey, Johnny Griffin, Tim Armacost, Misha Piatigorsky, Dmitry Kolesnik, Ed Howard, Vic Juris, Roy Hargrove and other internationally acclaimed musicians. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;His Big-Band experiences include: Ricky Ford Band in Paris, France, The Brooklyn Big-Band, The Mingus Big Band, Ray Charles Band, and Richie Cole s Alto Madness Orchestra in the United States. </P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mr. Rivkin was a Finalist in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Solo Competition in years 2003 and 2005.</P> <P aligh="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;His current selected musical projects including  Tribute Band in a setting of a quintet/quartet and a trumpet-piano duet  Interplay .</P> </P> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </div> </BODY> </HTML>
